Corinthians started exchanging the grass at Neo Química Arena on Sunday, a day after the friendly match of the Brazilian Women's National Team against the United States. The field maintenance was scheduled to be carried out during the break in the calendar for the 2026 World Cup. The last grass exchange at the stadium had taken place until then in October 2025, funded by the National Football League (NFL), for the match between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs. The grass exchange at the Arena is being carried out by the World Sports company, responsible for maintaining the stadium's field. "This Fraze process is a scraping of the superficial layer of the field, where this grass creates an organic material. It's a darker material, it looks like mud, a mud that holds a lot of moisture. Some players also complain that it leaves it more slippery. This Fraze process is very common in the largest stadiums in Europe, which use this type of grass highgrass", explained João Paulo, agronomist of the company. "Here in Brazil, the frequency is not as great due to the calendar, which is very tight. It's difficult to have 45, 60 days for field recovery. But the process has already been completed, and the synthetic fiber is exposed", he added. The next steps consist of maintenance, cleaning and "brushing" of the synthetic fiber to keep it upright. Then, there is the need for a layer of sand to level the field correctly. After all this, the seeding of the field will be carried out. The Neo Química Arena will be without games for about a month and a half. The Timão will only return to the field on July 22, after the World Cup, when it will receive the Remo.
